Everything You Don’t Know About Microblading in Atlanta

October 18, 2018

With all the personal grooming products and practices going around, it can be difficult to keep up.

One of the most popular of the new grooming techniques is microblading in Atlanta.

Gaining traction in the last few years, microblading is an eyebrow-thickening technique.

But how does it work?

Here’s everything you need to know about microblading, the newest trend in permanent makeup.

What Is the Microblading Process?

To thicken your eyebrows in the past, you might have used a pencil or some other tool. Maybe it worked or maybe it didn’t, but you certainly had to apply it and reapply it, over and over again.

Microblading ends this grating process, as it consists of far fewer applications.

The secret to its long-lasting application is it’s actually a form of precise tattooing. This doesn’t mean you’re getting big tattoos across your face, which is probably not the look you’re going for.

The tattooing process involves very small, very slight strokes which are meant to look like hair follicles.

They are positioned so they follow the pattern of your existing follicles, so they look natural.

If this sounds like good but you’re not crazy about permanently marking your skin, have no fear.

Microblading is not a permanent process, like getting a body tattoo.

Instead, the ink on your eyebrows will last between one to three years, depending on the person. It’s not unusual for people to require touch-ups, either.

Is the Microblading Process a Difficult One?

Microblading can take between an hour to two hours, depending on who’s doing the procedure.

Sometimes clients will be sent home with an antibiotic cream, in order to prevent any cases of infection from the ink.

It’s not unusual for a second appointment to be required after the first session. This can be because the person’s skin might fight back against the ink or maybe they just noticed a spot they’d like to have done differently. It helps to live with the new eyebrows for a while and get used to them, so you know what you’d like to have done differently.

If there’s one thing about microblading you might be wondering - is it painful?

This is not quite the case. Those who receive the procedure report some mild pain, but nothing too awful. Some tattoo artists offer numbing cream in advance, which you’ll want to apply about an hour before the procedure.

How to Prepare for Microblading and Aftercare

Before having your session, there are a few things you’ll want to keep in mind for your own safety.

One month prior to the session, you’ll want to avoid any Botox, fillers, facial peels, laser treatments or sunburn.

One week before the session, there are a number of things you’ll want to stay away from. These include aspirin, ibuprofen, blood thinners and Vitamin E, among many others.

24 hours prior, you’ll want to refrain from drinking alcohol, smoking, or using any kind of drug, which includes caffeine.

After you received your new eyebrows, there are certain precautions to take.

For instance, you won’t want to get them wet. This means no sweating, swimming, or getting your face wet in the shower.

If you do get them wet too early, the color could dissipate.

Should your eyebrows get red, itchy, or start to swell soon after your procedure, you should try using

Vaseline to help with the pain. Otherwise, this is totally normal and should go away fairly soon, without any further treatment.

Where Do They Offer Microblading?

Now that you’re familiar with microblading, you’re more comfortable with the idea as a whole.

After all, who wants to apply something to her eyebrows every single day, when you can do it every three years?

Maybe you were a little worried about the preparation, the pain, or the aftercare, but those fears have been alleviated and now you’re ready to get your ink.
