Powder, Ombré, and Shading: Which Microblading Method Is Best for You?

Powder, Ombré, and Shading: Which Atlanta Microblading Method Is Best for You?

April 9, 2019

Thick, luscious, beautiful brows are on so trend right now.

Granted, as with everything related to fashion and beauty, eyebrow trends come and go. Over the decades, brows have gone from full and even bushy to pencil thin and back again.

Thicker brows have been in for a while now, and I don’t think they’re going anywhere anytime soon.

If you’ve been thinking about investing in microblading in Atlanta to make your brows look fuller and/or darker, you need to know you have multiple options to consider.

These include: Powder brows, ombré brows, and microshading. Read on to learn about the differences and find out which option is best for your brows.

4 Brow Techniques You Should Know About Before Their Microblading Appointment

Here are four of the most popular brow techniques available.

1. Powder Brows

Microblading utilizes a hand tool which creates tiny incisions in which to place the pigment. This technique can be too invasive for people with sensitive skin.

Thankfully, people with tender skin can still have gorgeous brows with the powder brow technique.

Instead of using the microblading hand tool, a machine is used which places fine dots of pigment on the skin in a sort of airbrushing technique.

The inner corners of the brows tend to look finer, with the arch getting darker and more defined.

Once healing occurs, the brows look very natural. They simply look like they’ve been lightly filled in with brow shadow.

2. Ombré Technique

You’ve probably seen this look a lot on Instagram as of late.

Ombré brows are lighter at the inner corners, while the outer arch is darker.

Microblading strokes look like individual eyebrow hairs. The ombré effect is different in it looks like the eyebrows have been carefully filled in with eyebrow pencil.

This is a great option for someone who wants more dimension to their brows, or someone who loves darker, more dramatic eyebrows.

A lot of people who like this kind of look have to spend a lot of time filling in their brows every day, and even touching them up throughout the day. With the ombré technique, they don’t have to do this anymore, which is a huge time-saver.

3. Microshading

Microshading has been called microblading’s “little sister.” Like microblading, this technique utilizes tiny needles to apply permanent pigment to the skin.

Microblading uses those needles to create strokes of pigment, mimicking the natural direction of brow hair growth. Unlike microblading, microshading leaves little drops of pigment instead of strokes.

Fortunately, you don’t see the tiny dots. Instead, the dots are so close together they create a uniform color block. At first, the brows look like they’ve been colored in with a dark brow pencil. After about a week, once the skin has healed, the brows look very natural.

4. The Combo Technique

What should you do if you love the look of multiple techniques? You’re not alone. A lot of people aren’t sold on just one option. The combo technique uses both microblading and powdering to give

you the exact look you want.

This technique gives people a look which is similar to ombré brows, just not as dramatic or “made-up.”
